Whooping myself and Illamasqua

I'm soooo sorry i haven't been updating my blog !! ( self whooping sound, katxxxx) Oddly enough, people are complaining, not many to be true, but nevertheless they are.
I have been studying for exams and with all kinds of trouble to solve, and let's face it...I'M LAZY.
I'm sick and on holidays now, thank you God, thank yyyoooou. Not the sick part but hey...
What brought me here today is one of my latest passions and curiosity of the moment : ILLAMASQUA. I know i'm so late, but i have been eyeing this for quite a few months now. It's freaking fantastic! OMG, finally a 100% creative brand that has a wonderful concept and almost all of the eyeshadows are matte, i'm so tired of glitter and shimmer in every single thing we look at. I have to have a haul of this soon! Some friends of mine from university are going on the Erasmus program to Manchester, and i'm so asking them to buy some stuff for me there. It's a bit expensive so i'll ask them to bring them back and save some money on the shipping. HAAA! I'm so excited, maybe i'll even pay them a visit and do a shopping spree of all the stores i don't have here in Portugal.
P.S. Please Illamasqua, remember Portugal we are european and have lots of sun and beaches and very nice to people :D (wink Wink). Or at least the gods of Sephora Portugal to choose you as a brand here.

E agora? O que vamos fazer? Por onde é que me vou mexer? A palavra C não permite descuidos. É agora que tens que mexer o rabinho.

IN-spiration

This is my new "In-spiration": The Rodarte sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy. I must admit that i haven't been paying much attention, to what's going on, since i got into my degree in Comunication Sciences. But boy let me say they reaallly inspire me. Amazing style and imagery. Beautiful combination of feminine and hardness, trashy-chic. They are the ones i'll be glued on, dreaming about their deconstructed flowy dresses...hhmmwhat i would do with one of those. And simply because that's who i am, i analyze originality and design innovation to the core, i studied it, no wonder.
A friend of mine once asked me if fashion could be considered art. Sometimes it does, This is one of those cases: wearable art.
The Mulleavy sisters came from Pasadena California to New York in 2005 with 10 looks in their bags. It took very little time for someone to notice their talent and take off  like a rocket!
Their inspiration for the 09Spring collection were the works by Smithson, earth, and site specific art, a little bit of science fiction and films like Star Wars. The also genius like 09 Fall collection was inspired by japanese horror films....c'mon, aren't they the coolest thing?!

Milagre Photoshop|Photoshop miracle

I've been using for some time now this wonderful tool of blurred imperfection. Just one more of the countless products that shout out the ultimate effect of "pits" disappearance. Ok, a little far fetched i know...the word is pores. The Clinique Pore Minimizer Refining Serum is what it claims to be. I usually apply it on my T-Zone, unfortunatelly i have one of those battered, "modern" types of skin. I have a strange mix of sensitive, dry, oily everything in between. By Clinique standards, i'm a type II. I use their skin care routine, the infamous 3 steps, with sometimes the Gamila's Secret in between ( my skin moans and groans with the tonic now and then) and after the moisturizer there comes the serum.
A "Multi-tasking oil-free formula smooths, clears away debris to instantly minimize the look of pores. Goes on to strengthen pore walls over time, so they snap back into shape, remain smaller and less noticeable." I'm not ready to confirm if overtime my pores will do this, but for now its doing wonders. My skin gets smotther than a baby's butt and after i go through my makeup routine the crytical areas remain tight and oil free forever. I notice immediately that my pores get tight, i can feel it, and the appearance and texture of the skin is much more uniform and "pits" free. I truly recomend it to those of you that suffer the same sign of the modern times like i do, and even more to those with really oily and acne prone skin. As for the long run i'll keep you all posted about how my pits of shame are doing. Have a nice evening and don't forget to pee and moisturize before bed.

Twitterworld!

A friend of mine just showed me this youtube video. I think its very interesting to say the least lol. its making fun of the sucking void that Twitter can become. Don't get me wrong, i'm a recent twitter, just getting used to it, trying it out. Its growing on me day after day, 'till now i've just been using it to be updated minute by minute on the world's chaotic swirl. Ironically, i decided today that i should be more interactive with the people i'm following, a lot of them youtubers i already watch and admire. So please keep this in mind - nothing, i mean NOTHING can replace a live face to face (smelly or not) contact of what we call friends. A smile, a hug, even a laugh is a thousand times better and not comparable to a computer screen.
So twitter away for all its worth, don't be a twittersnob and i really don't care if you're taking a dump right now :D

Mildly tipsy, sugar overkill and such Easter effects

Today i need a big shot of guronsan. Easter lunch was as always a big chunk of bad baaad things that go straight to my ass and thighs. Laughs at the table were helped by the always, the greatest, the wonderful Moet Chandon (Veuve Cliquot is better).
A big bottle of it, bigger than the regular ones, i don't have a clue of how much it has in it. After that, the little house fairies sleepy or not, groguy maybe, had to clean up while the boys were snorring satisfaction through their nose and belly. Despite all of the lazyness, things were done and the big sister went to Torres Vedras (near Lisbon). At last, the Castro's mansion was quiet...and i have an empty nest syndrome pounding with the champagne bubbles in my head. Oh almost forgot, didn't mention the easter goodies my dad gave us. Sugar buzz all around its like an IV of caffeine.

Poque me apetece só escrever...Because i just want to write

Today i just feel like existing. No beauty tips for today, or updating my activities to the world. Easter is coming and family affairs are keeping me quite busy. I wonder, how is it possible for me to be standing here writing ,without someone shouting my name to peel some potatoes, or check the "toucinho do céu" in the oven (the disgraceful feminine archetype calls - the kitchen). But don't get me wrong my lovelies, i do love to cook. Its alchemy at its greatest form. My "Padrinho" -nevermind, its a very long story about pranking systems in portuguese colleges- calls me "bruxinha" when i get my hands on a pan. Where can we mix instinct, love, spices, thoughts, complicated chemical fusions by heart passed down by our own female matrons?..
Dona Nelinha becomes almost a legend, when anyone has the chance to exercise the palate with her addictive secrets. It all boils down to the TOUCH they say. The hands, mind and heart have to know and dance like a symphony's delicate harmony. You don't just learn that, its not just following the exact mathematical measurements and something like this comes out, noooop. Its the TOUCH. I'm happy to find that some might say i inherited it, apparently my mother's genes carry this metaphysical gift of being a little witch with food...and maybe something else too ;D  Have a nice Easter everyone, and don't forget the Guronsan...

The truest pink of all

Shu Uemura launched theRouge Unlimited Pink Collection this Summer of 09. The truest pink ever! Its a new Hybrid Pigment found by their laboratories, that can achieve the most faithful pink shade until today. A new molecular composition that came from a mineral core and an organic shell resulted in this new patented Hybrid Pigment. The color payoff is said to be unprecedented, and the hues of pink can be limitless if contaning this new breakthrough.
One of the hottest trends for this year's hot weather is here enlightened, by a very diverse choice of pink hues: from blue pinks, yellow pinks, dark or light ones. Don't miss out this one, i HAVE to get my hands on one of these lip products but don't know how....hmm, sadly we don't have Shu Uemura here in Portugal nor do we have any representative seller. If you know someone who can get me one of these YOU will be my master for at least 2 months, and i'll obey every wish you have ;P

MACup Trends 09

MAC released on their site the infamous book of trends for Spring/Summer 09, so i decided to share with all of you my favourite ones from each group of suggestions. From the "Black to Earth" group my favourite is "Blackearthy". Amazing dark dramatic look, you'll need a lot of self control and blending skills here ;).
Then from the "Artifice" my favourite is....."Unapolagetically Red". I know, hey i'm here sign hehe. A well defined red lip with nothing else around to make it shine for itself is really, reaaaally a classy look and an elegant statement.
From the "Revolutionary Nature" i find the "Buffed and Polished" a very trendy look, that's been hanging on for quite some time now. This one was hard to pick, all the looks are amazing in this group. Don't forget the cheeks are the THING this season. If you work them nicely, with that fresh face that just ended a jogging exercise, you will look years younger and well rested.
The "Tendertone" group of trends is fabulous! Another hard one...i guess i'll go with the "Almost rainbow" it oozes sunny springish weather and i'm feeling sunny. Although ALL the other ones are my kind of thing.
Finally, in the "Hydraluminous" set, i see nothing new. Don't get me wrong i love the wet look, it rocks my world in the summer specially. But i've been doing this for some years now so its a very safe bet. A clean beautiful touch like "Gloss on Gloss" has a luminous effect everytime. But....be careful you ladies with oily skin, and uneven skin, this might fall into a new episode of the "teen oily phase" or bring out more those imperfections.
So, check it out i have the link here somewhere, and have fun! Xaaauu té amanhã ninas. ;)

Pinkishly naif

The other day i went to help a friend of mine and did the makeup for her shoot. Filipa Siopa Duarte is a very talented designer she studied with me. So, in the midst of Oporto, quiche and lot of sleepy eyes, me, Carla Bessa (the photographer) and Filipa did this work with a little help from Marlene (the model). It turned out just like we wanted. Simple, naif, almost nothing on her face apparently, and a messy bun that was always fighting to unravel lol. Here are the results, i hope you like our morning's work and of course, the wonderful garments Filipa made through the years.

Lavender smooch

This is my favourite thing beauty wise right now: Lavender lipstick. I know i'm not the only one but this is my latest obsession,
specially fashion mews by MAC, God its feels better than chocolate :D

The beggining of an era

This is the beggining of all my thoughts and favourite things in this world. Someone told me recently that some things don't go together or are even weird (like journalism and fashion). Well, sorry but you'll have to put up with the melting pot that is ME.
This is starting to be an experience of weirdness, futility, superficiality and meaningfull emotion. I'm normally a serious girl, but i think the world needs some lightfullness for us people to be able to stand it all. Fashion, beauty, art, humour, are all sent to the world minute by minute, second by second. There are thousands and thousands of people who are doing the same thing as me right now. Maybe what's going on inside my head will reach someone (let's cross our fingers), and maybe all the futile things will help someone live the day to day speed race we're all in, lightfully. Yes. Don't take this seriously. It isn't, will never be. Do we need sillyness magically mixed with seriousness?...Yes we do. Don't fool yourselves pseudointelectual righteous minds, a lipstick can do wonders if you let it. There's a place for everything, a time for everything, and this is the time and the place where nobody will demand nothing from you. The place of all the futile things.
